The Ascot, Sunninghill and Sunningdale area is surrounded by Green Belt and regulated by the Berkshire Structure Plan and the Borough's Local Plans.
But it is constantly under constant threat.
Planning applications are on the increase again. Most of them are just run-of-the-mill extensions and replacements. But some threaten to destroy the character of the area and must be stopped.
Join SPAE to protect the area. Over 1,300 local people and most residents' groups already belong.
With your help, we can speak with an even more powerful voice.
We monitor all planning applications in the area and comment in detail wherever necessary (on average on about 25%).
We are represented at many public inquiries and, if the developers go to Appeal, we make representations to the Secretary of State for the Environment.
SPAE was formed in 1971 to protect the Green Belt and the character of the Ascot area and we cooperate with national and nearby area organisations with similar aims.
We are your watchdog in monitoring all planning applications, policy documents and council planning meetings. Our officers are happy to give advice on planning matters. We realise that even minor applications can concern neighbours.
SPAE is not opposed to all development. Everyone needs a place to live and work, but new homes, offices, factories and roads should fit in with approved county and borough development plans, be sited in the right place and be built in keeping with the character of the area.
