The Parish Council
What is a Parish Council?
A Parish Council is a statutory local authority in its own right. It has a wide variety of powers conferred by many statutes (Acts of Law), which it administers within its parish boundary.
As an elected local government body, the Sunningdale Parish Council deals with the issues and concerns of local people.
The members are elected every four years.
The Parish Council has the following specific functions:
- As the first port of call for local residents enquiring about public services
- To maintain the recreation ground, the cemetery and the allotments
- To comment on local planning issues
- To prepare a financial plan to spend the annual precept and to prepare annual accounts which are available for inspection by residents
- To represent the views of local residents to the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead
- To participate in the consultation process with the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead on a variety of issues affecting local people.
