Recycling

The Parish Council is keen to encourage all residents to recycle as much of their rubbish as possible. Not only is this essential for the environment, but it saves on the £32 landfill tax payable on every tonne of waste sent to landfill.

You can help by carefully recycling for the Tuesday collection. Into the PURPLE bins, please put any cans, both steel and aluminium (having been rinsed out and crushed), along with plastic bottles (having been been rinsed out and with the caps removed), and glass bottles and jars of any colour.

However, Plastic bags, plastic film, food trays, yoghurt, margarine or ice cream pots and drink cartons must be disposed via your refuse bin, as at present these items cannot be recycled.

Into the BLACK bins, please put in your paper (newspapers, cereal boxes, brochures, directories, envelopes, junk mail, cards, office paper, cardboard egg boxes etc.)

The nearest recycling centres are:

Sunningdale Car park - bins for cans, glass,
Royal Oak pub - glass recycling.

Sunninghill Car park - cans, glass, paper, textiles, books

Ascot (Grange Road car park) - cans, glass, paper, textiles, aluminium foil and tetra packs.

Every can you recycle saves energy equivalent to 3 hours of TV.

Ink cartridges are collected at the CMI building.

Sunningdale Parish has made available free compost bins for residents. Composting your green and kitchen waste helps reduce landfill and the methane produced. Please ask if you want a bin.

Sunningdale Parish collects tetra packs (milk, juice and other cartons made of mixed materials) which we then take up to Ascot. Please ask for more information.

All this is part of the Royal Borough's energy-saving programme which aims not only to cut the council's carbon footprint by 25% over the next five years, but also save ratepayers around £1 million in energy saved.

Ask for more details of the cavity wall and loft insulation grants for those over 75 years or who are receiving benefits.
