Planning
The Planning Committee meets every four weeks to consider every planning application related to Sunningdale. The meetings take place on Wednesdays at 7.30pm at the Council Offices and dates can be found on the home page (under forthcoming events). Agendas are added to the notice boards at least three days before the meeting. Members of the public may attend any meeting and will be given the opportunity to speak at the beginning of the meeting on any matter before Council. Since November 2010 all applications are electronic files only. The public may come in to the office to inspect an application on the computer. The best time to do so is on a Tuesday morning between 10.00am and 12.00pm at the Council Office in Sunningdale. There is no need to make an appointment but if you advise us you are coming we will have prepared the electronic file. Council remains in close touch with the Planning Officers of the Royal Borough on planning matters, Development Control and its Local Planning Strategy for Sunninghill and Sunningdale which is being piloted in November 2010.
A Steering Group made up of members of the community are leading the process of drawing up a Neighbourhood Plan for our area and will be holding a number of consultation events and an ongoing discussion with members of the community. A launch event, attended by 150 people, took place at Ascot Racecourse Grandstand on Wednesday 28th September, 2011. Following on from the launch the NP Steering group was delighted to welcome a good number of volunteers ready to get involved in the range of tasks in order to research, consult and ultimately come up with the Plan for where the houses and shops should be located in our two parishes. Also following on from the launch, questionnaires were completed by 172 residents. The report on this launch consultation has recently been published and can be viewed online. The next event is a Vision Workshop which will be held on Wednesday, January 25th, 2012 from 6.45pm to 9.45pm. Contact Anne Martin at the Parish Council if you are interested in attending. There are always reasons why nobody wants development near them. Nevertheless, we need to think not only of ourselves but of future generations. Significant population growth is forecast for Sunningdale and people want to live in vibrant villages. Sustainable development is at the heart of the Plan and we must consider not only how to preserve a way-of-life but how to enhance it and share it with others. There are still many ways in which you could get involved. It is important that we hear from the young as our decisions will affect their future and from local businesses as the Bill specifically requires such consultation. The Localism Bill became law on November 15th, 2011. The Act intends to hand power to local people for planning and development decisions in their area through initiatives such as neighbourhood plans and the community right to build.
