Four Walks in the Parish

With the help of the Parish Paths Initiative scheme we have produced a leaflet of walks in and around Sunningdale using our definitive footpaths and bridleways.

You can download the leaflet which is in pdf format or you can collect a printed copy from the Parish Council Office.

There are four walks.

  • Walk 1 - Chobham Road/Common, Shrubbs Hill, Old Village

  • Walk 2 - Old Village, Coworth Park, Shrubbs Hill, Heather Drive

  • Walk 3 - Coworth Park, Windsor Great Park, Old Village

  • Walk 4 - Ridge Mount Road, Sunningdale Golf Course, Windlesham.

All the walks start and end at the Jubilee Clock on the A30 and you can adjust the walks to suit the distance you feel comfortable with.

Many people are unaware of some of our footpaths which simply link the various areas of the village and lead us into Surrey and Windsor Great Park, with some wonderful walks surrounded by beauty and many majestic trees.

    2010 Annual Parish Walk

Christine Gadd, Chair of the Parish Council, led a group of parishioners on a walk round the hidden places of the parish. In glorious sunshine we visited Sunningdale School, Lynwood and Sunningdale Park where tea was provided. Everyone learnt interesting things about our locality and our natural environment from the Quiz and the lucky winners will enjoy prizes from Sunningdale Lounge, Pizza Express, and Vanilla and Wellington Track. A short report and a set of photographs can be found here in Ascot Matters.

    2009 Annual Parish Walk

The annual Parish Walk took place on Sunday 9th June 2009, organised by Christine Gadd, Chairman of the Parish Council. Anne Martin reports on the event.

"More than 40 people turned up to take part in the Parish Walk on Sunday 7th July. Setting off from the Recreation Ground we walked up Station Road escorted by our local PCSO, Becky Harris. We had permission to walk in Sunningdale Park, taking in some ancient trees. Up Kiln Lane and passed the cemetery, we emerged onto Whitmore Lane and up the paths on to Coworth Park, watching the polo match as we went. We emerged out of Coworth on the A30 by Bluebells where the manager had laid on a most welcome tea break for us, while the children played games. The sun shone for most of the way, and it was a wonderful way of talking to others in our community as we made our way back to the Rec. Christine Gadd, Chair of the Parish Council, had carefully organised the whole event including a quiz with prizes. The lucky winners went off with a meal for two at Hamiltons, tea and cakes at Fegos and tickets for Polo matches at Coworth.

Thanks to all who took part, but especially to Christine".
