Sunningdale in Bloom

Hanging basket on the corner of the A30 and the Chobham Road - August 3rd 2011Bed near Majestic Wine on the A30 - August 3rd 2011

As shown in the surrounding pictures displays of plants in raised beds plus hanging baskets can be seen in the village on the Chobham Road and on the A30. Many of these plants are generously sponsored by local businesses.

Our dedicated volunteers, Sheila and Gordon Williams and Shirley McCaul plant and tend the Jubilee Beds, the terraced garden and the tubs to embellish the overall landscape of colour. The beds at the Recreation Ground are colourfully planted along with the Coworth Park sponsored bed.

Through the Garden in Bloom Award Scheme residents are also encouraged by the important contribution that private gardens can make to the appearance of our village. Gardens are assessed by Borough and Parish Councillors who distribute certificates and rosettes to outstanding gardens. First prize in 2011 went to Bill Hathaway of Park Crescent and the runner-up was Lillian Parkes of Bedford Lane. The prizes were awarded at the September Council meeting.
